Challenge match versus Musselburgh Old Golf Club at Leith Links - 2nd July 2008

"For a memorable golfing experience using traditional hickory clubs, come to Leith Links and play on the very turf where golf's earliest rules were written"

In April we were victorious for the first time in our challenge match with Musselburgh at their home course..... [more]

On Wednesday 2nd July 2008 we welcomed our good friends back to Leith Links for the 3rd contest there using hickory clubs. As the match score stood at 1-1, this could be considered the decider on a "best of 3" basis, at least it would be by the winning team !

However, all was for naught, because the match was tied at 2 matches each.

As well as our main sponsors, we are indebted to Bruce Stevenson for their assistance with our events

and also to Edinburgh Leisure for setting up our 5-hole course

The Society's points were gained by Alastair Chalmers and Ian Thom and by Ian Hislop and Robin Morris, against the pairings of Robin McGregor and Grant Campbell and Billy Finnegan and Sandy Henderson respectively.

For our visitors, Eddie Whoriskey and Jimmy Duffield came out on top against Ken Gordon and Eugene Bradley, with Jim Green and Colin Blyth triumphing over Martin Fletcher and Bob Burns.
