The Leith Challenge Medal - 6th July 2007

"For a memorable golfing experience using traditional hickory clubs, come to Leith Links and play on the very turf where golf's earliest rules were written"

Our President, Douglas Foulis, generously donated a magnificent medal for competition between Leith organisations.

The first running of this event saw 4 local churches taking part. The winners were South Leith Parish Church, represented by Alastair Chalmers and Hugh Blackie, with a score of 39 over 10 holes, followed by Brian and Joan Graham of Duke Street URC.

Also taking part were Leith St Andrews (Norman Kinnear and Duncan Scotland) and North Leith (Gary Macdonald and Ian May).

As well as our main sponsors, we are indebted to the following sponsors of the 2007 events...

The recent wet weather did not dampen the spirits and a most enjoyable evening resulted.

Now that the event has been established we hope the wider Leith community can be encouraged to take part to make the event most worthy of Douglas's generosity.
