Challenge matches in 2005

Saturday 4th June
The original golfers on Leith Links moved in 1838 to Musselburgh and then in 1892 to Muirfield to create the club that has been made famous throughout the world, not least for its hosting of The Open championship on many occasions.

Our inaugural match to recognise the close historical connection between our Society and the links at Musselburgh was played on 4th June 2005. Of course the result was less important than the friendship on the day, but for those that wish to know..... we lost 4-1 !

Monday 6th June
We welcomed some members from Musselburgh Old to the Links where they joined with members of our society. Teams of 2 were organised and a 10 hole competition ensued.

These matches have established an initial contact between our Society and Musselburgh Old Golf Club, a course steeped in the history of golf. We hope this will be merely the start of a longer-term relationship.
