Home Membership Current events Recent events Other events The original rules Leith golf history Links Contact Us		Challenge match versus Bruntsfield Short Hole at Leith Links - 3rd July 2008 "For a memorable golfing experience using traditional hickory clubs, come to Leith Links and play on the very turf where golf's earliest rules were written" Our third challenge match with BSH continued the tradition set by the previous two - that the visiting team run our winners. Our guests had a comfortable victory by the margin of 4-0 ! The LRGS captain, Alastair Chalmers, commented that these matches were more about the taking part rather than the winning, however as this is usually said by the losing team he singularly failed to convince anyone he was serious !		As well as our main sponsors, we are indebted to Bruce Stevenson for their assistance with our events and also to Edinburgh Leisure for setting up our 5-hole course
		Shortly before the match was due to start the heavens opened and for a short time there was some doubt that we would be able to play. However, the skies cleared and we were able to venture forth. The Society was represented by Eugene Bradley and Czeslaw Kruk; Lionel Freedman and Bob Burns; Alastair Chalmers and Hugh Blackie; Brian Donkin and Graham Wilson. Their opponents were Jimmy Robertson and Roddy Gray; Paul Middleton and Gordon Cochrane; Simon Sumner and Fraser Gordon; Ian Hislop and William Wright.
