Challenge match versus Bruntsfield Short Hole at Leith Links - 5th July 2007

As well as our main sponsors, we are indebted to the following sponsors of the 2007 events...

"For a memorable golfing experience using traditional hickory clubs, come to Leith Links and play on the very turf where golf's earliest rules were written"

We hosted our first challenge match with Bruntsfield Short Hole (BSH) on Thursday 5th July 2007, which resulted in a win for the visitors by 2½ to 1½.

The recent spell of "slightly damp" weather continued but despite this there was some excellent scoring, particularly from some at Leith Links for the first time.

We now look forward to the return match at BSH when we are sure local knowledge will be important. We can rise to that challenge !

The results were .....

Robin Morris and Douglas Foulis lost to Willie Davidson and Ian Hislop 2 & 1

Lionel and Beth Freedman lost to Steven Doyle and Paul Middleton 4 & 3

Alastair Chalmers and Bob Burns defeated Fraser Gordon and Jimmy Robertson 4 & 3

Jim Maguire and Kevin Dilley halved with Simon Sumner and Gordon Cochrane

The best team score was from Steven and Paul on level par (36). Next came Jim & Kevin and Alastair & Bob with 37 and Simon & Gordon with 38.
