2008 Annual General Meeting

24 members attended the AGM, with a further 14 sending apologies.

The Secretary, Pat Denzler, reviewed the past 12 months and thanked many people for making the past year a success as we continue to develop the awareness of the golfing heritage that is Leith Links.

Our treasurer Robin Morris presented the Accounts and reported a small surplus for the year. He referred to the Awards for All grant we had received for the development of the play [more] and also that the Special Projects fund, whilst sound, would require boosted to meet the plans that the Society has for further development of our aims.

President, Douglas Foulis addressed the meeting outlining that this is the members' Society to work with and develop in pursuit of our aims. He reminded members that our heritage is one to enjoy and reminded us of the special opportunities it brings. He commented on the many exciting projects being developed and there will be more coming up.

2007 events. Reports were given by various committee members on each of the events that had been run in the summer, including the first holding of the Foulis Medal and challenge matches with our friends from Musselburgh Old Golf Course and Bruntsfield Short Hole ..... [more]

2008 events. These were outlined to members and are included in the new membership card ..... [more]

Special Projects. The most significant development in the past twelve months has been the receipt of our funding award to enable the play set around the signing of the original rules to be developed by our committee member and author, Lorna Moon.

After the close of the formal business, we were delighted to have a presentation made by one of our recent members, Puneet Sachdev. Puneet talked about the development of his own company which is being set up to develop golfing and special interest tours from the UK to India and will bring golfers from India to play in Scotland. A link to this venture can be found in our Links section.

The existing Committee was re-elected, though additional support and help from the members would be welcomed.

Very many thanks go to the Leith Franklin Academicals Cricket Club for allowing the Society to hold its AGM in the Clubhouse and their general support for our activities.
