2004 Annual General Meeting (28 January 2005)

On a very inclement night 20 Society members braved the elements to attend the 1st AGM of the Leith Rules Golf Society, following the launch last March with 90 founder members.  This number grew to 113 during the year and included 12 Canadian members.  No increase in the £10 annual fee was recommended and it was hoped our local members will renew their subscriptions and support the events planned for 2004.

Douglas Foulis, our President,  commented on the spirit and enthusiasm of those present which augured well for the future. He felt a “strong pulse in Leith” which, with luck, he envisaged could enable the creation of something one could see, touch and reminisce over to mark and celebrate Leith’s place in the History of Golf.

The 2003 committee was re-elected for 2004 and

readily accepted the welcome offer by Alastair Chalmers to become the Society's Web Editor. The Committee is:-
President: Douglas Foulis
Secretary: Pat Denzler
Treasurer: Norman Reid
Committee: Jim Forson (Hickory open Golf) ; Robert (Bob) McCulloch

Following the official part of the meeting and with many thanks for the use of the Cricket Club, refreshments and more conversation followed in a convivial atmosphere and rounded off an enjoyable evening.
